Things To Know About Taking Class
Attire.
There is one bathroom to change in at the studio so please try to arrive as dressed for class as possible. If you have a mat feel free to bring it with you. Students will need to acquire and bring at least one blanket, not necessary for Intro classes.
Dress lightly and snugly so as not to obscure body alignment, no baggy clothing or heavy jewelry. Shorts (bike style) or tights and t-shirt work well. So-called Yoga pants that flare from the knee and hide feet and ankles are not appropriate. Please do not wear in or apply in the building after class any perfume, scented lotions, cologne, etc. We share the air and props and if you come in with scent on you may be asked to leave.
Food.
Come to class with an empty stomach (2 or more hours past a meal). Drink fluids up to 20 minutes before class, not during class. No drinks or water bottles in the classroom.
Special Needs.
Be sure to inform your teacher about any injuries, physical problems or medical conditions so s/he will be able to modify poses for you. Do not come to class if you have any condition which may be contagious as you are sharing the air, props, and floor with others.
Please be on time.
The doors will not open until 20 minutes before scheduled class time so please do not try to come in before then. Plan your arrival so that you can be settled in the room 5 minutes before class starts. Each class begins with preparatory practices for what will follow. If you are late you may be turned away or lose your space to a student making up from another class.
Quiet.
As Yoga is an inward journey, please do not talk with other students inside the building or on the sidewalk outside. Initiating a conversation may be disturbing to others who are working to settle and focus their attention. Turn off cell phones and pagers before you enter the building.
Attendance.
Regular attendance at your class of choice is important as we teach how to build postures and practice. Our emphasis is on giving you the information and experience necessary in the formation of a personal practice through which you may realize the fruits of Yoga. Class is not your practice. This is especially so for Introductory students and missing 2 classes in a row or any 3 during the first 5 weeks will make it difficult to continue and you may be considered dropped from class.
Parking.
Parking is adequate and located behind our building. Please do not park in the area across from our entrance. It does not belong to us.
Refunds.
Refunds can be made until 2 days before second class of the session, less $30; no refunds thereafter. No credit will be carried forward. Up to two missed classes may be made up during the current session only, space permitting.
